Logging in to WordPress only takes a few moments and gives you access to the tools you need to keep your website up to date.

Before you start

You’ll need:

• Your website login address
• Your username or email address
• Your password

If you don’t have these details, please contact your website administrator.

Open the login page

Open your web browser and navigate to your website’s WordPress login page.

This is usually:

yourwebsite.co.uk/wp-admin

or

yourwebsite.co.uk/wp-login.php

You may wish to bookmark this page for easier access in future.

Enter your login details

Enter your username or email address in the first field.

Enter your password in the second field.

If you’re using a private computer, you can tick Remember Me to stay logged in between visits.

Click Log In

Click the Log In button.

If your details are correct, you’ll be taken to the WordPress Dashboard.

This is the main control panel for your website.

Familiarise yourself with the dashboard

The menu on the left-hand side gives you access to different areas of your website.

Common sections include:

• Posts
• Pages
• Media
• Comments
• Appearance

The options you see may vary depending on your website and user permissions.

Logging out

When you’ve finished working on your website, click your profile picture or username in the top-right corner and select Log Out.

This is particularly important if you’re using a shared or public computer.
